For me it was "I Can't Help Myself" by the Four Tops. In England, Elvis Presley's version of "Crying In The Chapel" knocked off the Hollies "I'm Alive" (totally amazing song) for just that week! Haven't figured out what it was in the Netherlands yet, but I'll keep searching!
The #1 song for the friend who turned me on to the Birthday thing was The Osmonds "One Bad Apple." Ouch.
What are you talking about!?!? That song is amazing!!!
I also believe it was the first 45 I ever owned back in 1971.....
